Chapel Hill Manor, with its one of a kind architectural style has stood sentry over Main street at the western entrance to Mendham Borough since the early 1900's. With it's enchanting appeal and its historic background it has played a vital role in both the development of the Borough and has added to the unique and historic streetscape that is found up and down Main Street.

Chapel Hill Manor was known historically as St. Hilda's Lodge. Originally designed and built for the Sisters of St. John Baptist by William W. Cordingly. Mr. Cordingly resided in the building and was it's owner until his death in 1965 when it reverted to St. John Baptist School in accordance with the direction in his will. Mr Cordingly served as the Mayor of Mendham Borough during the following terms of office 1935-1936 and again in 1941-1942.

Originally designed and built as a multi family dwelling, St. Hilda's Lodge is being Historically Preserved and adaptively redesigned into a Grand Manor Home. Much time and energy has been spent on the fine details under the guidance of the award winning architectural firm of Dennis Kowal Architects. This firm specializes in Historic Preservation and adaptive re-use. From the triple pane, energy efficient custom leaded windows, which replicate the original leaded windows, to designing and locating the 4 separate zone heating and air conditioning systems.

When complete this magnificent home will consist of 5/6 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms and 2 powder rooms. The master bedroom suite has 2 large walk-in closets along with a corner Jacuzzi tub, a 2 person oversized shower and separate commode area with telephone hookup. Additionally, there is a guest / au pair suite with a full bathroom and separate kitchen. The 3 rd floor holds an additional bedroom suite with a full bathroom and sitting room, which looks out over a 3 story open foyer. One of the many extraordinary features within this distinctive home will be a 2 ½ Story multi purpose Theatre / Entertainment room. This room will be accented with a side balcony accessed from a upper level formal living room. There will also be a third level rear mezzanine room equipped with a fireplace and step down balcony from which one may view the entertainment on the stage below. In another area of this uncommon home, on the upper most level is located a large fully paneled library with fireplace. This fascinating sanctuary contains secret hidden chambers that only the owner will know how to access. One of these secret chambers will be a private office accessed through a secret door. This truly one of a kind manor home has a total of 18 rooms with 6 fireplaces spread throughout the 7000 square feet of living space on over 3 plus levels. Additionally, a newly constructed oversized 2 car carriage house with loft will be accessed through a covered portico. The layout of this exceptional home lends itself nicely to both casual family living and formal entertaining.
